The Red Room

Hi Diane, Darren here, with this week’s new song, which we titled “The Red Room” which is a bit of a rocking song, a bit of a jazzy piano feel, almost like an old player piano, but a rock version of one. We threw some references in there from Coop’s Twin Peaks days. Everyone this particular evening, apparently had red auras, according to Coop and Phillip. Hence “The Red Room” and Stoney made us all play a word association game before we played. He told us to give him the first thing that came to our minds when we heard a certain word. This time, the word was “Red” and here’s how we answered: Coop – “Cherry Pie” ; Phillip – “1987” ; Stone – “love” ; Me – “primary color” . . . So I guess what we learned is that we all interpret things in many different ways. I guess what that might mean is that maybe the red Room is different for everyone. Diane, as we were sitting around meditating on the word red at one Eyed Jack’s, a person approached us about writing an album for a movie about mushrooms. Currently Considering considering. More Soon Diane.

The Red Room

I’ll sit with you in the red room
I’ll talk backwards with just small words
& love

I came for you, I came here for you

in the red room
where heroes and vultures are spared
and owls don’t care
who!?

well, I’ll take you out of the red room
I’ll be your hero’s suspense
well, I’ll chase you out of the red room
I’ll show the demons who’s best
I’ll take you out of the red room

I’ll wait for you in this red room
I’ll walk backwards but move forward
with Love

I came for you, I came here for you

I’ll take you out of the red room

I’ll take you out of the red room
I’ll be your hero’s suspense

I’ll Make Hate To You

Hola Diane, tuvimos que tomar unas pocas semanas debido al problema de alcohol de Phillip. But we’re back a week before Cinco de Mayo and trying not to mention it to Phillip. Another problem this week was that Stoney was MIA. He said he had a house to paint and handed me a cassette to put in the recorded, which ended up being his vocals for this here open Mic. We’re still at One Eyed Jacks, they granted us a leave of absense, if you can believe it, until Phillip was back. The locals here love us and I think that apparently had something to do with it. So, we had rehearsed the set with Stoney and now, we just had to play the set and hope that the vocals on the cassette tape lined up properly. Diane, I Don’t know how he did it, but he did. Stone Catcherye produced a cassette of himself to sit in for him at the open Mic and it worked just fine. This new song, “I’ll Make Hate To You” – which is obviously a play on a Boyz II Men song, was the first time we heard Stone’s vocals and he wasn’t even really there. It’s another rocker, Diane. Coop says he signed the both of you up for a mail order pie company that is to and I quote “die for” – so be expecting a couple pies in the mail. Four more songs to go and I will have this recorder back and we’ll be done with the album. Phillip has seemed to overcome his alcohol issues with a little help from La hierba del diablo. Thanks again, Diane.

I’ll Make Hate To You

yeah, in your head, I am dead
must have been all those words that I said
my one regret, is just that I can’t take it back

I’ll make sweet hate to you
that’s the best I’ll do

oh, it must have been all those words
that I let represent my breath
all those words I let
slip

I’ll make sweet hate to you
that’s the worst I’ll do

(love!…love!…love!…love!..)

yeah, in your head, I am dead

I’ll make sweet hate to you
that’s the best I’ll do
I’ll make sweet hate to you
that’s the worst I’ll do

(love!…love!…love!…love!..)

Phillip Jeffries Misplaces Everything

it’s late and I’m here listening to the newly completed album by none other than Keep The Fear, “The Lost Phillip Jeffries Tapes” (https://keepthefear.bandcamp.com/al…) The 2nd part, if you will, to “The Lost Cooper Tapes” which was KTF’s debut album. (https://keepthefear.bandcamp.com/al…) The highlight of the album is a song called Blue Rose Cases. mmmmmm. Though, I’m sure everyone will have his or her own “high” lights.
next up will be Seven Sundown Songs. (we’re plugging this one a lot because we promised to buy our co-producer and mastering engineer a leer jet). once we finish making all the payments for his jet, we’ll be able to get some groceries and maybe make our rents. if by some weird roulette wheel style chance of luck and we sell more copies than we were taught how to count, we’ll invite you all over for a BBQ, with Sinfield preparing his famous curry ribs, and offering free rides in his new leer. then we’ll show up at all the awards shows, if nominated, or not, and show them what a train wreck really is. we’ll make Tim from Rage Against The Machine proud. or at least I will, D3, bail me out.
More news soon…thanks for keeping the fear

Eating at the Chaos Cookhouse

It’s late here, or early, however you decide to look at your glass. We here at Keep The Fear are very excited to be almost done with our newest album yet to be completed!!! “Seven Sundown Songs” – we call it rock n roll but who knows if we’re even right.
The album is being mixed and mastered at the Chaos Cookhouse by the one and only, Russell “BK” Sinfield. He’s making it sound nice.
We’ve had a few special guests grace us with their presence on the album as well, an illusive genius who goes by the moniker “bitzone” showed up for some drums on a track called Sunshine. Alex Sinfield showed us how to play Sax on Cimmerian and his father and mixologist / curry engineer, Russ played lead guitar on three tracks, if I remember correctly, Pseudonyms, Cimmerian and Should The Sadness Occur.
The album is a bit mellow compared to our first two, which you may have not heard yet, “The Lost Cooper Tapes” (https://keepthefear.bandcamp.com/re…) and “The Lost Phillip Jeffries Tapes” (which is recorded but not yet available in the US, Europe, Africa, Australia, or Asia).
Another little bit is a “sister album” which is said to be all of these songs on Seven Sundown Songs, stripped down to a bare vocal and one instrument at a time sort of arrangement. A lot more raw than the full album.
I think the album will be out for mass consumption by the end of June. don’t quote me, as I often change my mind and what I say.
here’s the cover for the new album!!! you get to see it first here, exclusively!!! (hahahaha)

If you want a copy of the cd, but don’t have any money, like most of us, we’re having contests and giveaways, so stay tuned and enter the contests, we like to give away last place prizes sometimes too.

Seven Sundown Songs

good morning, for those of you in the same time zone as me, good afternoon and evening for those who aren’t. if you’ve been keeping up on the Keep The Fear bandwagon, you will know that we (1) have a new album in the works. actually we have two new albums in the works, but only one of them is being mixed and co-produced by the one and only (thank the stars) Russell Sinfield. (2) The album is called Seven Sundown Songs. it’s seven songs, duh, of mood as told by piano, keys, drums, bass, guitar and vocals. we have even narrowed the cover art down to the final choice, and was almost a unanimous decision by those we asked for opinions from. (3) the image above is a piece of our album art, but has been taken out of context. (4) we like to give things away for free, so, get ready for some contests and chances to win 2 things, a free copy of the new album, plus a copy of it’s sister album which is the whole album done in it’s entirety “acoustically” or stripped down to just piano and vocals with an occasional guitar thrown in.
other than that we’re always working on new music either together or apart and if you are at all intrigued by KTF, you might find some of our side shows or close friends’ side shows fun too: Keldari Station; Shadowface; The Trinity; Thee Ancient Aliens; Fish Herders; Rums & Bumbletons; Ping; The Field, The Stone & The Flower; jOjO’Stars Subatomic Soundclash; and I’m sure there’s a few more I’m forgetting.
I have no timeline as for when the new album(s) will be out, but if you tune in to our soundcloud or facebook page, you won’t miss a beat, no pun intended.
if you’ve made it this far, you deserve a treat. here’s a clip of one of the songs from the new album – https://soundcloud.com/keepthefear/…
May all of your days be filled with sunshine and laughter,
Keep The Fear.

Our New Album

We here at Keep The Fear, Inc. have just finished a nice brainstorming session for possible titles for our new album which is currently being mixed by the great Russell Sinfield. saying his name like that makes him sound like a magician.
We had a list of more than 100 names, we narrowed it down to 20. then 3, then 1. The one is actually a collage of the final three, sort of.
Seven Sundown Songs.
now, however we need ideas for an album “cover” representing this Album Title.
please leave us your idea(s) in the comments and if we use someone’s idea, that someone will get a free copy of the cd. and a free bonus download of another cd from us. Keep The Fear.

Name One Of Our Next Albums

We, here at Keep The Fear, Inc. are currently and simultaneously writing two albums. Most bands have a hard enough time focusing on one in their first year together, nevermind 3. or 5. or 4. Keep The Fear basically just formed in the past 5 months and our first album, The Lost Cooper Tapes was finished in about a month. Our 2nd album, which is really a 2nd part to the first album, is halfway done. Then, our third album (not named yet) is 3/7 complete.
Why?
Well, do you ask why a plumber plumbs? Do you ask why Lemmings follow their family over the edge of cliffs? Do you ask why the Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion table is so hard to understand?
Me too.
Our second album was in the works after the completion of the first, the second one is called The Lost Phillip Jeffries Tapes. DDD can never spell Phillip Jeffries right, but yet I am THE worst speller in emails and messenger. It equals out. While working on the second, I got a piano piece from D3 and we thought about doing a whole piano-ish album. Which is the third album. and we have two songs still to write for that one, and one is in the works. We’ve been brainstorming names.
If you have a name for our 3rd album, you’d like to enter, please leave it in the comments. If we use your suggestion, you will get proper credit and thank yous and a free cd. Here’s the rules, as much as that word makes me cringe. It must begin with “S”. that’s it.
Oh yeah, one of the most important parts is our Producer and Mixologist. Russel Sinfield. He’s already mixed one of the songs and has it up on his soundcloud page. He’s like a sound baker. He gets them in a pile, touches them with his fancy instruments, and they come out as warm fresh loaves. What great producer doesn’t love the warm bread analogy? No but seriously, Russ will be mixing, mastering and co-producing this with Keep The Fear. and at some point, we’re going to share a ridiculous amount of pints. Mine will be water, because I’m a lightweight, but I’ll try to keep up. I even drink water slow.
Names so far for the album to give you all a push to contribute…. (note, these were before we implemented the “it must starts with ‘S’ rule”) Pheromona Lisa Meow Jiggsaw Muzzle Crotchwalk
I’m sure for those of you who know us, you can probably figure out which name came from whom.
be kind and KEEP THE FEAR

Doppleganger

Hi Diane, this is DDD. here is the next installment of music from our residency at One Eyed Jack’s. This one was recorded during the St. Patrick’s Day festivities at Jack’s. We all were wearing green. We all stayed away from any sort of green beer. Diane, Cooper showed me the ole, “Did you ever see a match burn twice” trick and just let me say, I fell for it, I’m the only one to blame. Phillip was especially celebratory that evening and managed to drink the 4 bottles (along with 4 of his friends) of Irish Whiskey they had on stock at the bar. That debauchery led to this wall of noise and edge we called, Doppleganger. We all agreed without Stoney present that it sounds like an Irish dessert laced with booze. It’s a hard rocking one, Diane and wouldn’t you know it, I learned the chorus vocals to try and sing a bit of back up and Stone had rewrote the whole chorus by the next time I heard it. I think we took maybe a 15 minute break. Tell Coop he left his shamrock bouncy headband in Phillip’s car. Talk soon, Diane.

mer de noms

so, DDD is listening to some vinyl at his pad, looking for some inspiration for the next Keep The Fear song. I joke about our music collections possibly looking completely different from one another’s and he shoots me an image of him holding an album he thinks I might have in my collection.
A Perfect Circle – “13th Step”
well played. well played, my friend. one of my favorite rock bands, for sure. from there I ask DDD if he’s surely heard of their first album, Mer de Noms. no.
WHAT!?!?! no!?!?!?
I thought for a fraction of a second that I was in an alternate universe, but I wasn’t, he really hadn’t heard of that album. I sent him a link. I think he will eventually go buy the vinyl.
MJK you can thank me for that sale. or produce one of our songs. Have your people contact our people.
so, I was set to go work on some new material, as if I ever stop. and was chatting it up with DDD when he said to go and jam and he was going to go and try to work on some stuff. that’s when I saw the image of DDD with the APC album. now I’m listening to their first album and can’t leave.
I think DDD has figured out how to get more songs recorded than me. just remind me of great albums that I can’t help but listen to.
again. well played. Russ, take notice of this album as well, I’ll be quizzing you both in weeks to come.
this is Stone Catcherye, I’m now shutting off the album after 7 or so songs to go and “play”
may all your favorite albums capture you and take you to this magical place that I am in.
