Keep The Fear covers the Beatles

after having recorded one album we decided to begin exploring each other’s influences. We found a common denominator. The Beatles. I Think I recorded about 6 tunes in a day and sent them to DDD. hahaha. This was the second one we did, but the first one we have released, as the others aren’t finished yet. This is our version of “Cry Baby Cry” by the Beatles.

Distraction is a Girl Called Wednesday

“Hola Diane, I still have Coop’s recorder, we’re almost halfway done with our residency at One Eyed Jack’s. We’re known as the open mic monsters, to the local yocals. There’s not one person in this town who hasn’t heard some form of music come from us in the past three weeks or so, Diane. We all were fairly civil this week and had no major drunken episodes. This week’s song is called Distraction is a Girl Called Wednesday, Phillip was getting pretty cozy with a girl who showed up earlier that night at Jack’s. Stoney told me her name was Wednesday. Phillip was playing so sloppy until she left. Next week is set to be epic Diane!! it’ll be Jack’s St Patty’s Day Celebration!!”

Death Bag

“Diane, this is DDD, This song, is called Death Bag, We came up with this one on the 3rd night of our One Eyed Jack’s open mic residency. Stone was playing his baritone guitar and so it sounds a bit dark. Phillip was in a strange mood this evening, Diane, as he refused to drink anything unless it had an umbrella in it. Not a real umbrella, but one of those drink umbrellas. Stone & Coop kept stealing the umbrellas out of his drinks and putting them in their hair. I brought out the rocking guitar tone on this one and my best wah faces. Cooper even took a mini solo at one point. Rocking tune, Diane. A touch of island feel for you too. Hakuna Matada, Diane.”

Blue Rose Cases

“Diane, this is DDD, This song, is called Blue Rose Cases, inspired by Gordon Cole, of course. We came up with this one on the 2nd night of our One Eyed Jack’s open mic residency. Our friend Deputy Andy Brennan decided to join in on trumpet for this one and it came together perfect. For the record, Andy likes to drink sex on the beach. Diane, this one reminds me of a bullfighter’s theme. Cooper & Phillip were on their best behavior this night. Not Stoney though, he was “feisty” and was shut off by the bartender. Diane, the food at One Eyed Jack’s leave a lot to be desired.”

A Place of Great Goodness

“Diane, this is DDD, this is the first song we as Keep The Fear came up with while playing an open mic residency at One Eyed Jack’s. This song came together after Coop spent the first hour talking about and trying to convert everyone in the bar to Tibetan thinking. Phillip was buying Coop shots all night, but funny, wasn’t drinking any himself. I crushed Stoney in a friendly game of darts. He said he had an off night and would come back next week to avenge his loss. I doubt it. I’m Gandalph, the white. Stone got a flat tire on the way here and will have to fix it after we’re done playing. Phillip was twitching when Stone told us about the flat tire and said, “I wasn’t near your car.” Not really sure what that was about. Diane, I said I’d bring back Coop’s recorder, but Stone told me to hold onto it to record the rest of the songs, so, I’ll bring it back to Coop after. Good day, Diane, good Day.”

I’m Normally Happy

“Diane, this is Stone Catcherye, and this is the last song from our jams while staying at the Great Northern Hotel. On our last night in the bar we were graced by the presence of a man named Leiland. He spent 4 hours at the bar switching from incessant crying to incessant bad dancing. We had fun nonetheless. Phillips put a “kick me” sign on his back at one point. The week jamming with these guys has been prosperous and we plan to continue after we leave here. Diane, I will get Coop back this recorder as soon as I can digitize the songs. Look for more from us in the future. and hey Diane, Keep The Fear.”

Please Put My Heart Back In The Jar (on the shelf)

“Diane, met the weirdest guy today at the Double R while having breakfast and coffee. It was DDD, and I and Coop. Phillip had gone back to the farm fix his depleted mushroom supply. DDD ordered some sort of breakfast energy smoothie, Coop had two eggs, sunny side up and white toast, no butter, and black coffee. I had the mickey mouse pancakes with blueberry syrup, one glass of OJ, one glass of pomegranate juice and a coffee, light and sweet. The man we met was a Dr. and I think his name was Jacoby. weird guy. DDD hit it off with him as they both collect sunglasses. He was saying how he kept locks of hair from all of the clients he’s ever had. So, afterwards, while we were jamming on the new song, we all had this running story and joke that Jacoby probably had a room hidden in his house with the hearts of all his old patients who had deceased. Phillip, who wasn’t there for the start of the joke and was now heavily influenced by psilocybin, wasn’t as amused, but still was able to play what we needed for the song. Hence the eerie feel. See you tomorrow, or talk to you tomorrow, Diane.”

The Power of Negative Thinking

“Hi Diane, it’s Stone Catcherye, still. We’re almost at the end of our stay here for the great Electronic Music Conference at The Great Northern Hotel. I must say, I’ve been rather impressed with the Hotel, the food is amazing. When I woke up today, DDD was sitting at the end of my bed with a keyboard, sunglasses and a hat made of tin foil. I looked to my left and Cooper & Jeffries were outside on the balcony staring in with an anticipation only known by kids on Christmas morning. I am then serenaded by DDD’s keys only for this song. Needless to say, we turned it all into song by the end of the night. DDD’s dance was priceless. Cooper nearly fell off the balcony in his fits of laughter. Jeffries was quiet, earlier in the morning he went on a hike to a nearby cow farm to find mushrooms. Diane, we have two more nights left here and I’m sure we’ll turn up two more songs. Catcherye signing Out.”

Consequence is the Future

“Diane, this song resonates with us today as we all dressed in drag and entered the fashion show here in the small banquet room in The Great Northern Hotel. Coop has skills beyond skills on the catwalk. I nearly fell off the stage on my walk. DDD was a natural. Phillip was the best model on the runway. Afterwards he told me he used to be a professional. That Phillip Jeffries is full of surprises. The song tonight is called Consequence is the Future. Also, coincidentally a fortune we should have heard those shots of whiskey trying to tell us. This is Stone. Until next time, Diane.”

Call Me If You’re Sad

“Diane, once again we had a great night jamming in Coop’s hotel room at The Great Northern and had our first noise complaint in 4 days. The hotel here has a smaller banquet hall where there are daily conferences going on. Today it was a lizard trainer convention. Cooper & DDD were all about it. They love those scale-y ancient bastards. Me, not so much. Phillip & I went on a ride into town and had some chow at a cozy little diner called the Double R. The waitress we had was all upset about her boyfriend. A pleasant girl who never had to write down one part of our order. I think her name was Shelley. Her boyfriends name….Leo, I remember because I called him Lion-O after she told me his name. Sounds like a real happy go lucky guy. (Blah). Phillip gave Shelley Coop’s home number as a joke. Back later, Diane, there’s a fashion show tomorrow in the small banquet hall!! This is Stone, over, out.”
